Josh Teis Bio
Josh Teis is a pastor, preacher, and ministerial coach with a passion for helping churches and leaders grow with clarity, health, and spiritual power. In 2004, Josh and his wife Heather planted Southern Hills Church in Las Vegas. Over the past two decades, they have seen the church grow to more than 1,500 people in weekly attendance. Josh serves as the Senior Pastor of the church and is guiding it through a decade-long vision called The Road to 4000, focused on building a thriving, disciple-making community for the city and beyond.
Josh is known for biblically faithful, engaging preaching that combines theological depth, compelling storytelling, and practical application. His messages consistently call people toward transformation rather than performance, helping listeners encounter the gospel with clarity and conviction.
Josh also invests in leaders through pastoral coaching, church consulting, and cohorts, including a 10-week Preaching Cohort designed to help pastors sharpen their craft, strengthen their spiritual health, and communicate Scripture with greater clarity and impact. His coaching blends practical leadership frameworks (such as strategic planning, board governance principles, and organizational clarity) with pastoral wisdom and deep care for the soul of the leader. Drawing from decades of hands-on ministry experience, Josh and Heather bring practical expertise in church growth across every stage of ministry—from planting and early momentum, to sustained growth, revitalization, leadership development, and long-term vision.
Josh and his wife Heather live in Las Vegas and are deeply committed to family, the local church, and raising up the next generation of leaders. Both graduated with undergraduate degrees from Pensacola Christian College. Josh also holds a Master’s in Bible Exposition from PTS and a Master of Divinity from Liberty University. Whether preaching at conferences, training pastors, or coaching leadership teams, Josh’s heartbeat is consistent: to see the Church strengthened, leaders encouraged, and Christ exalted.
Heather Teis Bio
Heather Teis and her husband Josh planted Southern Hills Baptist Church in Las Vegas in 2004, where they have served as Lead Pastor and Pastor’s Wife since its inception. They have 3 children. Their oldest, Jonathan, graduated from Liberty University and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army this May and just added their wonderful daughter-in-law Erin to the family in June. Savannah is a sophomore education major at Pensacola Christian College, and their youngest, Scarlett, who help keep life happening, is a junior in highschool!
Heather is a Southern girl who loves chocolate, goats, & Alabama football. Her life’s verse is Psalm 34:1, and above all she has a passion to help other women know and walk with God. She has served in many staff positions and volunteer roles at the church throughout the years and is currently the Communications Director at SHC.
Josh and Heather's Bio
Josh and Heather met at Pensacola Christian college at the end of their freshman years. They begin dating the following semester and discovered quickly that they both had a heart for pastoral ministry and serving the local church. They had no idea that God would open doors for them to minister not only to the community of southwest Las Vegas but also to ministry leaders in local churches all around the United States. They have been married for 25 years and love serving God together and seeing their 3 young children growing into adulthood! They are avid travelers and documentary watchers.
